DEAR COLLEAGUES!

Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the International Council of Archives (ICA), the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akimat of the city of Almaty invites to take part in the II Congress of archivists of Kazakhstan with international participation on the topic «Heritage Institutions on the way to sustainable development of society».

Venue: Almaty.

Working languages: Kazakh, Russian and English
Key thesis: Modern archives, following the strategic principles of openness, accessibility, through the current priorities of digitalization, modernization, cybersecurity, can draw the attention of society to a variety of sources of invaluable knowledge and information, create the right search tools in a historical retrospective of the responses to global challenges in the main directions of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The purpose of the Congress is a constructive dialogue of the professional community on topical issues of preservation of historical and cultural, documentary heritage, which will serve to generate innovative ideas for the development of archives and the reproduction of the best archival practices.
The Congress will be organized along the following lines:

Overcome the archival challenges in a changing climate.

  • Climate change and risks for archives;
  • Extreme weather events (earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, forest fires) and physical archives;
  • archive infrastructure (buildings, equipment, digital data storage systems) in the climate change environment;

The target audience of the Congress - employees of state, departmental and private archives, historians, cultural scientists, teachers and students of higher and postgraduate education, students of technical and professional educational institutions, employees of IT-sphere, all, who are interested in the problems of formation, preservation and use of information.
